Our Environment

Everything we do is designed to protect and enhance the environment in which our grapes grow. For example, we:
·       encourage a diversity of plant life
·       minimise spraying and use ‘friendly’ sprays wherever possible
·       minimise the use of resources in our winery and offices, such as by reusing the winery’s wastewater for irrigation and distributing our newsletters and updates by email
·       recycle as much as we can, with the ultimate aim of zero waste
·       ensure our wines are in recyclable or reusable packaging, including our aluminium screw-caps.

We are also:
·       certified to the international environmental standard ISO 14001
·       a member of the Sustainable Winegrowing scheme, which promotes (and audits us for) economically and environmentally sustainable vineyard management.

Each financial year, we also produce a triple bottom-line report, which covers our financial, social and environmental performance. We also work to a comprehensive environmental policy.

CEMARS CERTIFICATION
We’re proud to say that we have achieved the first two of the five steps to attaining certification through the carboNZero programme: Measure, Manage, Mitigate, Verify and Market. We are now certified to CEMARS™ (the Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme), a move that will provide Palliser with exciting opportunities in markets such as the UK, to which CEMARS was introduced last year. Through CEMARS we can demonstrate to the consumer that our products are produced using sustainable methods and practices, and that our business is  committed to protecting the environment.
