Our Vineyards and Winery

You’ll find Palliser Estate in Martinborough, at the southern end of New Zealand’s North Island. Locals will tell you it’s the best place for winegrowing in the country, with the perfect combination of soil, water and air – the three natural elements essential for making quality wine – and a very favourable climate for producing fine wines.

Palliser’s main varieties of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris are grown on five vineyards – Palliser, Pencarrow, Om Santi, Pinnacles and Clouston. Covering about 85 hectares in total, the vineyards are all on the renowned Martinborough Terrace, but have distinct differences in soil type and climate, which helps to add complexity to our wines.

Our winery, built in 1991 and expanded to cope with increased production in 2002, can process up to 800 tonnes of fruit. A purpose-built, temperature-controlled barrel hall minimises the losses of evaporation.

If you’d like to visit the vineyard, please call in and taste some of latest releases. Our cellar doors are open seven days a week from 10.30am to 4pm, and to 5pm on weekends during daylight saving.
