“There are so many things that go into making Palliser the wine it is. It’s the terroir, soil and climate, and human factors combined.” Allan Johnson , Chief Winemaker » Allan's Bio» Allan's Blog posts |
Palliser Estate » Pinot Gris Vintages » 2005 / 2006 / 2007 / 2008 / 2009 / 2010 / 2011

This is a wonderfully aromatic wine, reminiscent of spices, quince, lemons and lychees. Pinot Gris is a powerful wine with similar fruit flavours on the palate and is both rich and lingering. A wine that will change and benefit from ageing, though still good while young.

Pale green/straw colour.
It's beautifully ripe and lush, displaying peach, pear and floral characters on the nose
The palate is succulent and concentrated with rich texture and a touch of sweetness (6.6 g/l) which is perfectly balanced by the acidity. An immensely appealing Pinot Gris with lovely style and balance.
This is a Pinot Gris made in the Alsace style with grapes that were picked late to give good flavours and aroma concentration. It was fermented cool to retain varietal aromas and left sur lee for 7 months to gain extra palate texture. It is typically quite rich with balanced acidity and a little residual sugar.
At its best: now to 2014. It can be drunk young or cellared for a few years.
