The 2008 season in Martinborough with mid summer warmth and a favourable ripening period has produced a classical Pinot Noir.
Cherry-red in colour.
A lovely expression of Pinot exhibiting dark cherry, game, spice and a hint of cedary oak characters
Intense ripe fruit flavours of classical red and blackberry fruits with a supple savoury note backed by pleasant oak characters. It's full and concentrated on the palate showing satin smooth texture, beautifully harmonised acidity and fine tannins, and fine balance. The finish is long and expansive
The 2008 season had a favorable weather pattern that produced a classical pinot noir. This pinot noir containing seventy six percent Martinborough grapes was made with traditional Burgundian techniques. The techniques used include a pre-fermentation maceration, wild yeast initiated fermentation and a post-fermentation maceration to ensure the complex tannin structure. After pressing it was matured in French oak casks for 9 months.
At its best: now to 2014
