The Palliser Business

As one of New Zealand’s iconic wine businesses, Palliser Estate has both a prestigious heritage and exciting future. Palliser is an unlisted public company, proudly owned by a small number of loyal and passionate New Zealander shareholders.

With the Om Santi Vineyard planted and business established in 1984, and the Palliser Vineyard Partnership formed in 1986, the Palliser Estate Wines of Martinborough Limited business structure as it is today (which integrated the two former businesses together) was formally established in 1988. To this day, we still have several original shareholders, as well as many of their children and wider family members now invested. So while Palliser is not strictly family-owned, it has always been, and remains, a New Zealand-owned, family-focussed wine business.

Our yields, production, sales and exports vary each year. Palliser wines are 100% estate grown – meaning all our fruit comes from the vineyards that Palliser owns and manages. We avoid purchasing contract grapes from other growers, enabling us to have complete control of the viticulture and winemaking process, giving integrity to our sustainable values and organic focus.

We now own and manage 6 vineyards, giving 72 hectares under vine, all on the famed Martinborough Terrace. Roughly 55% of our revenue comes from domestic sales within New Zealand, and we now distribute our Palliser wines to over 20 global markets.
