Our Future

Palliser Estate is at the heart of Martinborough wine. We bring together the rugged, wild beauty of nearby Cape Palliser with the cultivated sophistication of an estate established over thirty years ago. Importantly, we do so looking towards the future with many of our wines already certified organic and with sustainability and community at the heart of what we do.

Our commitment to organics and biodynamic practices are a philosophical thing – they’re simply the right thing to do – and a practical thing that leads to a wonderful earthiness to our wine, making it feel more real, more alive, more authentic to place.

We‘re working hard at converting all of our vineyards to organics, with our Hua Nui, Om Santi and The Winery vineyards already fully certified organic and part of the Pencarrow vineyard currently under conversion. We aim to have all seven vineyards in the process of conversion by 2025 and all fully converted to organics by 2028.

We feel that converting all our vineyards to organics will provide the truest representation of sense of place in our wine as well as improving the soil for future generations.

It’s about kaitiaki – guardianship – of the land and it’s about producing exceptional wines.

Looking back, sustainability can be seen as the start of the bigger journey to being fully organic. To us sustainability is about being responsible within your industry, responsible within your country and responsible within your world – our world.

Just as we’ve been pioneers in New Zealand Pinot we’ve also been pioneers in sustainability achieving many firsts as shown in below. Ultimately this goes beyond being at the forefront, at its heart it’s really about ensuring our wines give back to the land and our region as much as they give to us.
