When Captain Cook came to New Zealand he was travelling on gut instinct. A conviction that beyond the horizon there was something great waiting. He must have really loved this place because he named our coastline Cape Palliser after his revered patron and fellow explorer Admiral Hugh Palliser.
This is now the region where we make our wine. Great wines that deliver on the promise of standing on the edge of the world and then going that little bit further.

2019 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir released
We are very excited to release our 2019 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, the first single vineyard wine produced by Guy McMaster as winemaker, and only Palliser’s second. The wine is from our ‘Hua Nui’ vineyard (previously known as ‘Wharekauhau’) which is one of our organic vineyards situated on the Martinborough Terrace. It is a very special site that consistently produces quality fruit with balance. The literal translation of Hua Nui is “fruits of abundance’ which we believe beautifully reflects what this vineyard produces year on year.
Guy is extremely proud of this wine which in his words “reflects four years of nurturing the vineyard organically whilst removing the human hand from the making, to truly showcase the site of Hua Nui, the soul of Palliser and the 2019 season”

Our stylish cellar door is open 7 days a week, all year around. We always have a warm welcome ready for you and great selection of wines for tasting – whether its’ a personal tasting through the range, a tasting flight to enjoy at your leisure, or simply to savour a glass of wine in the beautiful courtyard.
Food at Palliser
From the 8th of April, Palliser’s in-house chef will be offering delicious food from our kitchen over autumn / winter, five days a week (Thursday – Monday). This will be a reduced menu using local seasonal ingredients – it will include grazing plates, desserts and the odd seasonal special, all created to match Palliser’s beautiful wines and to be enjoyed in the park-like surrounds of Palliser’s home vineyard and winery.
